40-30-20-10

Some fun facts about me: I don't like to read, it like a chore to me, and I am awesome at procrastinating.  Remember when The Da Vinci Code book came out and everyone was reading it?  Not me, I joke that I would wait until the movie came out, but then the movie actually came out.  I never saw it either.  And as far as procrastinating goes, I once at an alter ego "superhero" i made up named Tomorrow Man.  As in, the lawn needs to be mowed, but wait, "This sounds like a job for Tomorrow Man!"

But I have now combined my two dislikes to work against me.  If I need to do something, lets say, just a random example, start a weight training program to help get me in shape in time for next spring, I will then read ohh 30 or so articles on what I should be doing, thus procrastinating from ever starting the program.  Man, I am tricky.

So in my what could be my never ending search for the perfect routine, I have read about sport specific training.  How certain exercises will help better for tri specific activities.  After reading for over an hour I decided that doing anything would be better than sitting at the computer reading.  I got up and did a very basic crossfit workout: Squats, push ups and sit ups, 4 rounds, 40-30-20-10.  I was difficult for me.  At one point in my life I was pretty awesome at squats.  Not so much anymore but I'm still ok at them.  I am not ok at push ups and sit ups.  Or as my business coach would have me say, "I'm currently working to improve my push ups and sit ups." (Positive mental attitude!!  What you think about comes about! ) Nearly all of them were modified.  But I finished and it felt like a small victory to be done.  I have the rest of the day ahead of me and I will make it a great one!!  Onward!

  2. One step at a time:

    You could
    * Join a gym and go with some friends.
    * Attend some gym classes.
    * Exercising in a group is more fun and they force you to attend more often (peer pressure)
    * Join a cycling group in your area and do group rides.
    * Go to Target and buy some extra underwear to leave in your car (see your first post). :-)
    * For reading go for audiobooks. They are great for the car rides to and from work. You can get them free at your library or online.
    * Join local Galloway running group
